Managing Widgets
Widgets are the chat interfaces that appear on your website. You can create multiple widgets for different websites or purposes.
Creating a New Widget
- Click "Create Widget" in your dashboard
- Enter a name for your widget (e.g., "Main Website Support")
- Optionally specify your domain for security
- Click "Create"
Your widget will be created with default settings that you can customize.
Widget Settings
Each widget has several configuration options:
Basic Settings
- Name: Internal name for identifying the widget
- Domain: Restrict the widget to only work on your specified domain (recommended for security)
- Status: Enable or disable the widget
Appearance
- Primary Color: The accent color used throughout the widget (buttons, links, etc.)
- Title: The heading shown at the top of the chat window (e.g., "Customer Support")
- Subtitle: Secondary text below the title (e.g., "We typically reply within minutes")
- Greeting Message: The first message visitors see when opening the chat
- Input Placeholder: Hint text in the message input field
- Show Powered By: Toggle the "Powered by Flow Chat" branding
AI Behavior
- System Prompt: Instructions that tell the AI how to behave, what persona to adopt, and any specific rules to follow. This is where you define your AI assistant's personality and knowledge boundaries.
Example system prompt:
You are a helpful customer support agent for Acme Inc.
You help customers with questions about our products, shipping, and returns.
Always be friendly and professional.
If you don't know something, suggest the customer contact support@acme.com.
Never discuss competitor products or make up information.
Notifications
- Notification Email: Email address to receive chat summaries
- Send Summaries: Toggle email notifications for conversation summaries
